The Energy Bank was set up in 2016 by ForumAscolto A2A to help people facing financial and social hardship, with projects aimed at fighting energy poverty. Promoted by A2A and its AEM, ASM and LGH Foundations, it started operating in Lombardy to then expand nationwide. In October 2022, when the service sector was reformed and RUNTS (Single National Register of the Service Sector) was created, it went from being a non-profit committee to a Philanthropic Foundation and expanded its governance to other companies.
The mission of the Energy Bank Foundation (Fondazione Banco dell’energia) is to help families which – due to unexpected work, social or health problems – are no longer able to meet their daily living expenses. It acts in 4 areas:
Anyone can contribute to the mission, by consulting www.bancodellenergia.it
Our A2A Energia customers can also do this in another way: through their bill, which for the first time in Italy has become a way of donating. If you have signed a domestic contract for your electricity (free market) or gas (free and protected) supply, you can donate 19 Euros a year (amounting to 1.58 Euros a month), for several days of electricity and heating.
These funds will be used on projects that help people in need through a network on Non-Profit Organizations, selected on the basis of their experience, trustworthiness and reliability.
Companies can also help in giving real support to people living in the area. Many companies have already decided to team up with the Bank, including the main energy suppliers in the country, by showing their commitment to social responsibility through their donation.
The “Fighting energy poverty together” manifesto was signed in December 2021, creating a network that is currently made up of more than 70 companies, suppliers and associations from the service sector, and research institutes.
More than 60 projects have been funded with the money raised, supporting about 11,000 people in need.
