A Smart City is a city where various stakeholders utilize and have at their disposal different devices that function together to make the city more intelligent. According to our vision, Smart Cities are the concrete way in which regions can deliver an improvement in communities’ quality of life by enabling better use of energy resources so as to achieve greater sustainability.

At A2A, we wish to help public authorities and private businesses become smarter and more digital by promoting the adoption of IoT technologies and the responsible use of data. We serve 194 municipalities ed these are our services.

Connectivity

Our experience in the telco sphere is the pillar of the services we deliver. We collaborate with public authorities to ensure the quality of public wi-fi in our towns and cities, and with private customers to connect building complexes, for example using FFTH and distributed antenna system (DAS) technology.

 


We also work in the field of the infrastructuring of ultra-broadband networks – such as 5G/FWA – in support of service providers and for the laying of optical fibre in urban areas.
 

Smart metering and smart grids

We also work hard to reduce wastage in the water sphere, where our digitalization of procedures enables us to detect leakages and other network anomalies. We make use of remote metering for gas and water supplies so that we can effectively access consumption readings and make it possible for customers to monitor use and be sure of receiving accurate bills.

Mobility

Improvements in the quality of city life are also achieved by simplifying urban mobility. We offer innovative services for real-time traffic analysis and for smart parking through the monitoring of spaces available in public car parks.

Safety

We help ensure the safety of our towns and cities by offering local authorities video-surveillance and video-analysis services designed to avert undesirable events. Our services are also designed for large residential and business complexes (Districts) and to guarantee the security of private companies’ technology and infrastructures.

Environment and energy efficiency

For public authorities and private concerns, we can also provide services designed to improve air quality, both indoors and outdoors. With air purification systems, we seek to reduce the pollution caused by particulates and allergens. Furthermore, we provide energy efficiency services for the management and optimization of electricity use.

Infrastructures

We want to support the advance of technology through increasingly widespread use of the 5G network.
Infrastructuring the assets of Group A2A with the logic of turning them into hosting sites for 5G micro-cells.

Water

Currently, we are deploying solutions already in place in the city of Brescia, such as the monitoring of water loss, fast and accurate remote metering and the analysis of water quality. To best safeguard our water resources, we want to extend these services throughout Italy.

Mobility

Towns and cities are becoming more reactive in the management of people on the move but also more autonomous in optimizing mobility while, at the same time, diminishing environmental impacts. We will deploy intelligent traffic lights to reduce congestion, dynamically limit access to some areas by means of access points through which to divert traffic, and will intervene structurally in the areas at most risk of accidents with near-miss analysis systems.

Safety

Towns and cities will also be more active thanks to video-analysis. Using video-surveillance equipment, we will be able to detect and locate problems as they happen, thus reducing response times for law enforcement agencies. The massive amount of data gathered from the field will make it possible to forecast problematic events.

Control Room

In our Group vision, the Control Room constitutes a decision support system (DSS), an objective means for the taking of decisions, able to make our towns and cities faster and more reactive. With virtual simulation of those situations that could occur and before taking direct action on site, the Control Room will enable us to understand the impacts of the decision-makers’ choices. Finally, the correlation of existing data by means of artificial intelligence will provide insights that will enable the towns’ and cities’ stakeholders to make the best possible decisions in real time.
