Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

United by the same values: respect and inclusion

Every day, we take care of those elements that affect the lives of us all: energy, water and the environment. But being a Life Company means much more.

In fact, with the same care, we foster all the elements that make each life unique and incomparable: the identifying characteristics of each one of us.
Each identity is an expression of uniqueness which, thanks to respect and inclusion, generates variety, a wealth of viewpoints and opportunities to engage with each other. In other words, it generates life.


The Diversity and Inclusion function works together with the Inclusion Team, a group of over 70 people, colleagues of different genders, with different backgrounds, levels of seniority, skills and company roles. 
The team is organized in five topic areas: gender, sexual orientation and gender identity, generation, cultures and disability. Together, team members develop and promote projects that foster a culture of full expression of the individual characteristics of the people at A2A.

Our undertaking to further inclusion and foster diversity is also concretely demonstrated in the signing of the Utilitalia Pact – Diversity makes the Difference, which promotes diversity management in corporate activities.

Contributing to change also means working with associations whose specific purpose is to foster diversity, such as Valore D Fondazione Human Age Institute and Parks – Liberi e Uguali. 

Bloomberg LP Gender Equality Index 2022

We are proud to have been officially included in the Bloomberg LP Gender Equality Index for 2022, one of 380 listed companies worldwide that have distinguished themselves in the promotion of gender policies.

UNI/PdR 125:2022 Gender Equality Certification

For the second year running, our Group has been awarded gender equality certification: important recognition of our ability to take concrete measures to overcome inequalities and create an increasingly fair and inclusive working environment.
For 2023, 13 companies in our Group received certification, building on the achievement of 2022, when six Group companies won recognition. The excellent work done at A2A SpA, A2A Energia, Amsa, Aprica, Gencogas and Unareti has been emulated by the new certification-winners A2A Ambiente, A2A E-mobility, A2A Ciclo Idrico, A2A Calore e Servizi, A2A Smart City, A2A Illuminazione Pubblica and A2A Services & Real Estate.

Welcome. Working for refugee integration

A2A received the Welcome. Working for refugee integration logo for 2022 by the UN agency for Refugees, UNHCR Italy.   
This award recognizes the significant efforts made by our Group in taking specific action to integrate refugees in the workplace and its work towards an inclusive society.

Respect for human rights is one of the principles on which we act

All of the activities, both internal and external, which our Group carries out with dedication are inspired by respect for the principles, values and rules of behaviour contained in our Code of Ethics.

  • in addition to the Code of Ethics, all of our Group companies are committed to the promotion and support of the human rights principles set out by the Conventions that we endorse.
