The instrument provides a system of advantages linked to the achievement of 5 sustainability targets
Milan, 19 July 2022 – A2A, Generali Global Corporate and Commercial (GC&C) and Aon have stipulated an agreement for the creation of a Civil and General Liability insurance solution linked to the achievement of five sustainability objectives - which concern workplace health and safety - and built around the “Social factor” of the ESG criteria (Environmental, Social, Governance).
In detail, through this partnership Generali GC&C will provide support to A2A in optimal risk management. With the contribution of Aon, which collaborated in the definition of the indicators and insurance mechanisms related to the achievement of the sustainability objectives, Generali GC&C Italia and A2A have in fact selected some KPIs. Among these: inspection visits to the A2A Group’s construction sites; access to the health training initiatives proposed by A2A and to the safety training aimed at its employees; percentage of orders placed to suppliers evaluated with ESG indicators; verification of the maintenance of the number of ISO45001 certified Group companies.
The new solution will act as an incentive for A2A to define increasingly challenging targets for a continuous improvement of workplace health and safety conditions. Precisely the objectives linked to this insurance instrument, in line with the Group’s ten-year Business Plan led by Renato Mazzoncini, confirm how sustainability directs the business strategy and reinforces its commitment to taking care of people’s lives: employees, suppliers and stakeholders.
Franco Franzoso, Head of Generali Global Corporate & Commercial Italia said: “Sustainability means designing, developing and measuring your business in the perspective of the great challenges we are experiencing.
The Company wants to be an innovative and transformative company driven by impact, through the creation of an Impact Strategy based on the intentional, measurable and additional generation of positive social and environmental value for Generali. The initiative is structured precisely in this sense: better risk management, aimed at strengthening workplace safety, promoting the sustainability and solidity of the company, as well as that of employees, suppliers and all the stakeholders involved. For this reason, the rewarding mechanism also provides for a contribution from Generali in the training context, to consolidate virtuous practices that allow us to generate value over time.”
Patricia Gentile, Head of Finance at A2A commented: “With this initiative, the A2A Group further expands the range of instruments in which sustainability is integrated, extending it also to the insurance world. Strengthened by our experience in the issuance of bonds and credit lines linked to ESG objectives, with the first Sustainability-Linked policy we are taking a further step forward in the innovation of sustainable finance.”
Andrea Parisi, CEO of Aon S.p.A. added: “We are proud to have contributed to the development of this policy, which combines sustainability in the social and economic spheres of the Group, demonstrating how it is possible to do business in an alternative way.”
